Welcome to Feathers of Hope, a meeting place for activists and their supporters!
Like many other forums, we are here to identify and discuss public issues. But unlike the others, we’re doing so for the purpose of affecting policy. Using media, emails, phone calls, letters, word of mouth, social media posts and the like, we aim to focus on an issue and direct our effort toward specific decision-makers.
From January to late-October, 2023, that issue was the Speakership of Kevin McCarthy. For ten months, we had been urging moderate Republicans and Democrats in the House of Representatives to form a bipartisan majority voting bloc for the purpose of electing a new Republican Speaker, one who owes nothing to the minority MAGA group.
On Wednesday, October 25, Republicans made a different choice. Rejecting the idea of a cross-party alliance, they voted unanimously to elect a MAGA-affiliated Speaker.
We remain committed to defending the institution of the House of Representatives.
We remain committed to diminishing the power and influence of MAGA extremists in the People’s House.
There is no charge of any kind to participate, and we have no intention of raising or spending any money. This is pure, plain old citizen activism.
