Thanks, Daniel.

For those who don't know, Field Team 6 is a voter registration project. But it's different from other such efforts in that it uses data to focus only on registering potential Democrats.

Particularly in GOP-dominated districts, many Democratic-leaning citizens think their vote won't count anyway, so they don't even bother registering. Getting them to register almost guarantees that they will vote. And if turnout is low for one reason or another, those new Democrats can really make a difference.

Great article; truly enjoyed reading about the savvy of President Biden in the crazy Speaker fiasco. I would add that his timing on stepping out of the 2024 race and handing his endorsement to VP Harris was legendary. Once again, just as you describe here, he simply appeared to be stubbornly digging his heels in, but then acted quickly after two significant events; the GOP convention and Trump making his dismal choice for a running mate. Too late for the GOP to do anything other than react...it was a well-deserved sucker punch that propelled forward our best chance of sending MAGA to the trash heap of history. Joe Biden is an American hero in my book.

Mine too.his timing is impeccable ❤️👍

I totally agree, Joyce. The timing was so perfect, I wondered at first if it wasn't planned that way. ( Probably not, but really a beautiful synchronicity. )

"a beautiful synchronicity"

absolutely

Excellent piece!

Thank you, Tracy.

President Biden's masterful handling of the MAGA/McCarthy dynamic is under-appreciated in my opinion. In less able hands, we could have seen an international economic crisis or, at best, draconian budget cuts to virtually all social welfare programs.

Well done Jerry. It will be interesting to see just how things proceed when the children return from recess. They behave (at least the GOP side) more like kindergarteners all the time except that 5 year olds are actually active and having fun.

Thanks, Dave.

Your comment reminds me of an observation made by Buzz Biissinger, the author of "Friday Night Lights", a book and TV show about a Texas high school football team. The team's head coach, Eric Taylor, motivated his players with the motto: “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.”

Making a comparison to Coach (and now VP nominee) Tim Walz, In a NY Times column the other day, Mr. Bissinger said this about the moto:

"It is a beautiful phrase, crafted by professional Hollywood screenwriters. But I’m not so sure it will work if Mr. Walz reaches the White House and tries to use it to persuade certain members of Congress to act like sensible human beings. For that task, it might be better to draw on his experience in a high school lunchroom, monitoring disruptive brats."

to me, Job One is Defeating Trump. Period.

I think choosing Tim Walz was a wise and winning move.

Once they're in the White House (fingers crossed), then he can be Coach or Teacher or Cafeteria Supervisor.

But if he helps defeat Trump, then my hat's off to Tim Walz and to Kamala's clearly A+ elite backroom Team.

I'm thinking that after Dems take the House, Senate, & WH, I won't need to write my substack newsletter any more. Looking forward to all that extra time.

But this ain't over yet, and miles to go before we sleep.

Write on, Jerry.

Thank you, Abraham. I know you'll have that extra time next year, and that you'll use it well!

For those who don't know, Abraham is a very experienced political operative who started a Substack Newsletter 2 years ago, warning that Neo-fascism was on the rise in the U.S. At the time, few were willing to call the MAGA movement what it is.

Now that the warning is no longer needed, he has shut down "Neo-Fascism, a Warning" and joined the Kamala Harris/Walz brigades with a new Substack newsletter: https://kamala4prez.substack.com/ . Check it out!

thanks Jerry,

I try to post a couple short articles each week, and you're right, I've changed the focus from the dangers of Trump's neo-fascist threat (everyone's well aware of that now, especially with Project 2025 out in the open) and instead I'm focusing on the very positive message and campaign of the Harris-Walz team.

But despite the great turnaround in fortunes for the Dems (since Joe wisely passed the torch), there is still much work to do, and winning the WH isn't enough to effect positive change; Dems have to win the House and Senate too.

To that end I've "Recommended" your site (along with Rick Wilson of The Lincoln Project) to my readers, and hope in the near future to feature your project as a dedicated and informed network of people actively engaged in turning the House Blue. I think many of my readers will be supportive of your efforts.

Thank you Jerry:

I appreciate your scholarly and informative writing and your consistent attention to the machinations of the House of Representatives. I feel better informed

Peace,

Don

Good to hear from you, Don!

Thank you. My focus on the House of Representatives is directly inspired by Tim Snyder's book "On Tyranny". He warns that in order to resist tyranny, our institutions need to be defended. So I've chosen the People's House as the focus of my attention.

Thanks for the recap. We Americans owe so much to Joe Biden and I hope eventually he gets all the credit he deserves. He certainly has never gotten that from the press.

Happy to remind everyone, Susan.

We do indeed owe Joe Biden an enormous debt of gratitude, and I'm confident that his legacy is secure. The press traffics in spectacle, and has no appreciation for the competence, skill, integrity and humility of an honorable leader like Mr. Biden.
